WHAT WE ARE:
Oil Co-op membership is open to all residents of Gayles, Dalton, Kirby Hill & Whashton and enables members to purchase heating oil 4 times a year. Coordinators approach a number of oil companies for each order to secure the most competitive price. The Coordinators are all volunteers & receive the same benefits as all other oil co-op members.
Buying in bulk not only saves the members money but also reduces the number of oil tankers on our country roads.
WHAT WE DO:
Liaise by email with members to organise a bulk delivery on or after a set date
Contact the oil companies to get the best price
Order oil on behalf of those who have requested it (min 500 litres per household)
WHAT WE DON’T DO :
Handle money
Issue invoices, etc.
Deal with your invoice queries
THE CONTRACT TO SUPPLY HEATING OIL IS BETWEEN THE HOUSEHOLDER/RESIDENT & CHOSEN OIL COMPANY
HOW THE OIL CO-OP WORKS:
To join the oil co-op in your village, please email.
We order quarterly - Nov/Jan/Apr/Aug.
The week before the order dates we email all members with a reply deadline. Email to tell us if you do or do not want oil.
The Coordinators collate the orders into a bulk order & email several suppliers for quotes.
We choose the oil supplier on price alone.
Members are advised by email of the supplier & the anticipated delivery date.
IF YOU HAVE ORDERED OIL CHECK YOUR EMAILS REGULARLY especially if there are access arrangements to make.
The chosen supplier delivers to members & invoices them directly.
Members are responsible for meeting the payment dates/times.
Any member whose invoice is not paid in accordance with the supplier's terms will not be able to re-order oil through the Oil Co-op until the balance is cleared in full.
